Why Prisoner-Workers are on Strike in Florida: Film & Discussion

In support of the strike called by prisoner-workers in Florida (Operation PUSH), the Atlanta branch of Workers World Party will be hosting a public screening of the film Visions of Abolition followed by a panel/audience discussion on the experiences of the (formerly) incarcerated, the continuation of slavery, and the role of the so-called justice system in maintaining racial and economic inequality. We hope to connect the struggle for more humane conditions to a larger conversation around the historical and contemporary function of police and the prison system.

The event will be held at the Phillip Rush Center Annex Building at 328 Mell Ave NE (at the corner of DeKalb Ave behind Radial Cafe).

Friday, Jan 19th   6:30-9:00 pm
