Drones have become the signature weapon of the Obama administration. The torture of the Bush years has been replaced by the indiscriminate slaughter of unidentified men, women and children, including hundreds of civilians, in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia and elsewhere. How do drone operators in U.S. cubicles know who they are killing on the other side of the globe? Is U.S. drone warfare an effective deterrent or a recruiting tool for
terrorists? What is the morality of killing people, including American citizens, without trial or any due process? Norwegian filmmaker Tonje Hessen Schei explores these and other questions in “Drone.”
